Vulnicura is the eighth studio album by Icelandic musician and singer Björk. It was produced by Björk, Arca and The Haxan Cloak, and released on 20 January 2015 by One Little Indian Records. Björk said the album expresses her feelings before and after her breakup with American contemporary artist Matthew Barney and the healing process. Vulnicura was originally scheduled for release in March 2015, in conjunction with the Björk: Archives book and an exhibition about Björk's career at the Museum of. Vulnicura is the eighth studio album by Björk. The album was supposed to be released in March 2015 but due to a leak, Björk and her team decided to release it on January 20th, 2015. The album was written in 2013, the year Björk and her partner Matthew Barney broke up, and it documents the progressive deterioration of the relationship and the subsequent overcoming of her pain. Some of these comments make me feel like I've won the lottery... My copy sounds amazing. Quiet with only a quiet click here or there. There's a fullness to the sound that makes listening to this on vinyl much more rewarding than the digital version. But then again, I only listened to the included MP3 download.

I Was feeling lucky and got another copy of this since I know some people have found decent pressings. I was pleased to find it was a goodie after returning two copies months ago. This one does have MPO etched in the runout. Seems like the good copies of this are rare but they are out there.

I was immediately taken aback by the surface noise and crackle. A real let down. Also what's the deal with the cheap flimsy vinyl weight?! For the so called deluxe editions they should've at least made sure it was 160G

Vulnicura 2xLP: Design = 100% Packaging = 100%. Vinyl Pressing = 40%. It really sounds lousy. It's pathetically quiet. I would say I haven't really 'heard' the music yet, because I was so disappointed I just left the vinyl at the back of the pile. At the same time, I got a copy of the repressed Volta 2x12" from OLI, on coloured vinyl - it's very lightweight vinyl but it plays brilliantly. This confirms to me that the poor sound from the Vulnicura vinyl is down to inferior pressing.My copy is marked MPO is the runout, but side C has something scored out near the MPO marking.

i hadnt played this album for a while but never noticed before, how LOW it plays! i dont have much static or pops/clicks on mine but i do have to turn it ALL the way up for LOUD sound. so annoying when albums are mastered so low, older electronic albums never seemed to have that problem.

Same for me. Zero crackles or pops but the sound is so so low. I love the record and the packing us incredibly beautiful but so disappointed with the sound.

Yes the pressing has some static but not as bad as some have made it out to be. Nothing in the deadwax says that it was pressed at MPO. It was pressed somewhere but not with them.

UK vinyl does says MPO in the runout, as noted above, and they were used for both the black and yellow versions.

The best thing about this release is the packaging. Not Bjork's best work but better then recent releases. The pressing of this record is a major disappointment. Surface noise, pop and clicks the entire time.

There are good ones out there - I preordered mine and the background is silent throughout. Seems I got lucky looking at the reviews, but the good copies - which do exist! - sound better than many of her previous vinyl pressings.

My copy has different record weights. Record 1 is 140g, record 2 110g. Weird but both plays nicely.

There's so many ticks and pops on this record... Really noisy and that's really disappointing because the music is amazing and probably one of Björk's finest albums. The songs are amazing and lyrically brilliant. The artwork and packaging are a true eye-candy. It didn't deserve such a poor quality vinyl record/pressing. I will give it a good Spin Clean wash later this evening, hoping that it will minimise the problem. It's a shame.

Yet another bad pressing from One Little Indian. I returned two of these to my local record shop. Both had that sizzle noise on the first record. Bjork vinyl sounds amazing when it's pressed right but it's such a crapshoot with OLI. I got the new Godspeed instead, which sounds excellent by the way.

Pretty disappointing that this isn't pressed on 180g, but the rest of the package sort of makes up for it. I've never felt a sleeve like that before, what is it coated with? It feels like suede!

The weight of the vinyl doesn't necessarily mean the disc will be a better/solid pressing.Some old 70's rock records were very thin but still sound excellent.

as other mentioned already: the artwork is - almost as usual - brilliant. but not coming as 180 gram vinyls (guessing the problem was the packaging?). sound is fine, but not that magnificent >>>>> vinyl has sizzling noises from the beginning. a shame. my copy has on the other side no problem with a spin off center (which might the answer for getting this copy just 3 days ago while ordering it 2 months ago): problem is just these noises............they should take a lesson by listening to a radiohead recording..........these tunes crying for a superb recording.

Radiohead have acquired a reputation for poor quality vinyl pressings in recent years, going at least as far back as Hail to the thief! The VERY special edition version of A moon shaped pool has been getting an absolute hammering for the paucity of the pressings. Original pressings of Nick Cave's Skeleton tree are also meant to have been terrible,; both in terms of sound quality and the actual condition of the vinyl.

The weight shouldn't really matter so long as the pressing is good. The noise may be caused by static from the inner sleeves.I have seen similar comments on the recent Jamie XX album.http://www.discogs.com/Jamie-xx-In-Colour/release/7063324Some of the commentors found that anti static liners/sleeve helped in that case.

My ol' heavy weight vespertine&medulla sound amazing. I believe it was medulla thats originally 45rpm also. But weight definitely isnt an issue for sound quality. Although the nice heaviness may just feel like "better quality":)

The weight of the vinyl shouldn't make any difference to the sound quality, just to its durability, likelihood of warps, etc. Some of the worst-sounding Bjork records (Vespertine, Medulla and Volta original 33rpm issues) weigh a ton, while their DMM reissues, pressed on ultra-thin coloured vinyl this year, sound massively better. It's the mastering and vinyl quality, not thickness, that affects the sound.

Awesome packaging awesome sound. Somewhat surprised this wasnt pressed on 180g vinyl like many of her releases though, and there does seem to be a slight off-centered/waviness of the grooves of disc1 but it doesn't seem to effect the sound very much on my copy. Overall im very happy to finally own this masterpiece!

I went through 3 pressings that are off-centred on disc 1 and returned them all. However I took a risk and just got a fourth one and disc 1 is flat, centred and quiet. There's no mention of MPO in the matrix so it's probably pressed by another plant. Disc 2 is still pressed by MPO but this disc was fine on all my previous ones too. Maybe One Little Indian have taken note?

I agree totally BUT what could the record store do about it? I would contact the label,one little indian,to let them know directly if anything&request a replacement. But i've read their communication/respondance isnt very great unfortunately...Its pretty disappointing their pressing such bad copies of amazing music that would sound even greater on vinyl. I hear even the recent bjork reissues aren't nicely pressed as well

It's unacceptable ! Disc 1 is all about strings. There is nothing like strings to sound awfully ugly on an off-center spinning disc. Such a record cannot be played seriously. If you have a record that cannot be played, the only right thing to do is to ask for a decent replacement copy. Why would you want to keep it ? My copy is OK, but if yours is not, doing nothing certainly won't help vinyl pressing plants improving.The message you send by doing this is: I buy vinyl records only as a collector but I don't really play them, so the actual quality of the disc itself doesn't really matter.This way of seeing things is driving me crazy. Please don't do that !

Unfortunately it seems the manufacture quality of vinyl has gone down over the years with demand increasing greatly recently. I wouldnt bother returning it, unless it greatly affects sound&bothers you, since you may end up with another one in the same condition sadly.

This is the most beautifully crafted vinyl package I've seen in a while. The limited edition acetate is bright and glossy with firm, square edges and fits very precisely over the gatefold sleeve. The cover is finished with a really high-quality matt texture - you might even say 'luxurious' - while the printing is really sharp and bold. The back cover is more spacious and more attractively laid out than the CD version. (While the CD numbers the tracks 1 to 9, this LP edition gives them all a letter, and together the track positions - 'v', 'u', and so on - spell out 'vulnicura'.) The inners and labels are beautiful, too, while the vinyl is solid, heavyweight and - most importantly - really great sounding. The first time I spun it there was loads of static and I was really disappointed, thinking there was distortion all over the first disc. in fact, it was gone the second time I played it. It's not mastered too loud - which has been a problem with One Little Indian's releases in the past (the original 33rpm issues of Vespertine, Medulla and Volta have great signal-to-noise ratios but do tend to distort, even on high-end equipment) - and, well, the album sounds phenomenal. I can't recommend this edition highly enough.
